Visitation Policy

We value the involvement of family, friends, and loved ones in the life of our Residents. The Community welcomes visitors and encourages family visits and communication with the Resident. 

Visitors are required to follow all Community policies set forth for the residents and will also agree to follow the terms of the rules of conduct which are posted with the Visitor’s Log at the reception desk. Visitors will also be required to sign in upon entrance and sign out upon leaving the Community. Visitors may be instructed in Community policies and procedures related to infection control and visitation prior to visiting a resident.  Visitors may be required to agree in writing to the Community’s policies and procedures.

The number of visitors and duration of visits may be limited as permitted by law.

In compliance with § 429.28(1)(d) Fla. Stat. (2021), visitors will be permitted access to the Community between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily. Upon request, the Community shall make provisions to extend visiting hours for caregivers and out-of-town guests, and in other similar situations.

Visitation to the Community may be restricted in the case of pandemics, viral outbreaks, or other public health emergencies that necessitate the restriction of visitors to the Community. If circumstances require the complete closure of the Community to visitors, the Community shall use its best efforts to develop alternate visitation protocols that would allow visitation to the greatest extent safely possible. Alternative visitation protocols may include increased use of infection control measures designed to prevent or limit the spread of disease. Infection control measures may include but are not limited to:

Active screening of staff and visitors upon arrival at the Community;

Practicing of hand hygiene before, during, and after visits.

Social distancing from other residents and staff;

Use of personal protective equipment; and

Other procedures recommended by federal, state, or local health authorities.

The Community shall allow compassionate care visitors (CCs) unless the resident objects to such a visit. Circumstances in which CC visits are appropriate include:

(1) End-of-life situations. 

(2) A resident who was living with his or her family before recently being admitted to the Community is struggling with the change in environment and lack of physical family support. 

(3) A resident is making a major medical decision. 

(4) A resident who is grieving after a friend or family member recently passed away. 

(5) A resident who needs cueing and encouragement with eating or drinking, previously provided by family or caregivers, is experiencing weight loss or dehydration. 

(6) A resident, who used to talk and interact with others, is experiencing emotional distress, seldom speaking, or crying more frequently when the resident had rarely cried in the past.

A resident may designate an essential caregiver (EC). An EC is not required to provide any necessary care to be so designated. The EC shall be allowed in-person visitation for at least 2 hours daily in addition to other visitation authorized by the Community.

Visitors are expected to work with the Community to determine an agreeable schedule that addresses the Community obligations for screening, PPE training, and management of visitors in a manner that does not place residents at risk. The Community may deny access by visitors for noncompliance with Community infection control requirements.

The Community may require visitors to submit to health screenings necessary to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Visitors shall not be required to provide proof of any vaccination or immunization. The Community may restrict access for a visitor, including a CC or EC who does not pass a health screening requirement or who has tested positive for an infectious disease. The Community may require visitors to adhere to infection control procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment. Visitors will not be asked to take infection control measures that are more stringent than those required of staff. 

Consensual physical contact between a resident and visitor will be permitted.

For the safety and comfort of all of our residents, the Community requires that visitors remain in designated visitation areas and respect the privacy of other residents while on-site. The Community also asks that individuals with symptoms of communicable illness refrain from visitation for the period of time during which they are likely to be able to spread illness to others.
